Extending Artwork to the Bleed LinesUpdated 2 months ago
To avoid unprinted edges on your final packaging, make sure your design extends all the way to the bleed lines in the template.
The bleed area (usually marked by a blue outline) allows for slight shifts in the trimming process — anything outside this line will be trimmed off, but extending your artwork ensures full edge-to-edge print coverage.
How to extend your design to the bleed:
Paste or place your imagery into the Artwork layer
Position the design element underneath your content (e.g. logos, text)
Click and drag the edge of the imagery so it extends past the blue line (the bleed)
Apply the same approach for background colours or patterns — they must also reach the bleed edge
Designs that don’t extend to the bleed may result in white borders once trimmed. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to review your file before printing.
